Mr. Bristol’s distinguished career in the insurance industry spans an impressive 47 years, beginning with Royal Guardian of London. His extensive experience in motor, property, and liability insurance, as well as claims management, has made him a respected figure in the industry.
Before his career in insurance, Mr. Bristol joined Barclays Bank on January 1, 1953, where he served until August 1959, leaving as Accountant for the St. Ann Bay Branch in Jamaica. Following his tenure at Barclays, he returned to St. Lucia and on September 1, 1959, became a partner in J.E. Bergasse & Co Ltd., where he continues to hold the position of Chairman.
Beyond his professional achievements in insurance, Mr. Bristol has also played a significant role in public service and community leadership. He served as Secretary and Acting President of the St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce and was President of the Caribbean Association of Industry & Commerce. His contributions to his community extend to his tenure as Mayor of Castries, Member of Parliament, and Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister, as well as Deputy Chairman of the St. Lucia Development Bank.
In addition to his professional and public service accomplishments, Mr. Bristol is an accomplished sportsman. He represented St. Lucia in lawn tennis and captained both the St. Lucia and Windward Islands cricket and football teams, demonstrating his leadership and dedication both on and off the field.
