Mr. Howell holds an MBA and a B.Sc. Electrical Engineering (First Class Honours) from the U.W.I. and an M.Sc. Telecommunication Systems from the University of Essex.

Before joining AIB, Mr. Howell was a Senior Executive of the Republic Financial Holdings Limited Group (RFHL). There, he was a director on the boards of several of the Group’s companies and was responsible for a number of portfolios, namely, Electronic Channels and Payments; Shared Services; Group Marketing and Communications; Information Technology Management and Overseas Banking Subsidiaries.
